AI Text Cleaner

Paste an answer from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Grok into an email, a Word document, a form or a social post, and it often brings clutter with it: double asterisks around bold words, ### before headings, backticks, Markdown links, horizontal-rule dashes, and sometimes invisible characters like non-breaking spaces, zero-width spaces and soft hyphens that cause odd wrapping, broken searches or formatting glitches in other apps. This free AI text cleaner tidies all of that up. It strips Markdown formatting while keeping the words (so **important** becomes "important" and [our site](https://…) becomes "our site (https://…)", or just the text if you prefer), turns Markdown bullets into clean "•" or "-" bullets or plain lines, and removes or normalises hidden Unicode characters, listing exactly which ones it found and how many. Optionally convert smart quotes and em dashes to plain ASCII, and collapse extra blank lines. To be clear about what this tool is not: it doesn't rewrite your wording, "humanize" text or hide that AI was involved. It's a formatting clean-up, the same thing you'd do by hand with find-and-replace, and you should still review and edit AI-assisted writing before you use it. Everything runs in your browser.

Clean AI output

Formatting clean-up only. It doesn’t rewrite or “humanize” text.

How to use it

  1. Copy the AI response and paste it in.
  2. Choose how to handle links and bullets.
  3. Copy the clean text into your email, doc or post.

Hidden characters it fixes

  • Non-breaking spaces (U+00A0, U+202F) become normal spaces.
  • Zero-width spaces and joiners, soft hyphens and BOMs are removed.
  • Unusual spaces (en, em, thin) become normal spaces.

FAQ

Will this make AI text undetectable?

No, and that’s not its purpose. It only removes formatting symbols and invisible characters. It doesn’t change your wording.

Why does ChatGPT text have asterisks?

The model writes Markdown. Chat apps render it as bold, but plain-text fields show the raw ** symbols.

Do AI tools add hidden watermark characters?

Stray non-breaking or zero-width spaces sometimes appear in copied text, usually from formatting rather than deliberate watermarks. This tool shows what it found.

Is my text uploaded?

No. It’s processed in your browser.
