QR Code Generator

This free QR code generator turns a website link, plain text, Wi-Fi login or email address into a QR code you can download as a PNG or SVG. Unlike many "free" QR sites, there's no sign-up and the codes never expire, because they're static: the information is stored in the pattern itself, not behind a redirect link that a company can switch off later. You can change the colours, the size and the error correction level, which controls how much of the code can be damaged or covered by a logo and still scan. The code is drawn right in your browser using an open-source library, so nothing you enter is uploaded. Use it for restaurant menus, flyers, business cards, event posters, or sharing your guest Wi-Fi without reading out the password.

Create your QR code

Always test your QR code with your phone camera before printing it. QR generation uses qrcode-generator by Kazuhiko Arase (MIT licence). "QR Code" is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.

How to make a QR code

  1. Choose the type: a link, text, Wi-Fi or email.
  2. Enter your details. The QR code updates as you type.
  3. Pick colours. Keep the code dark on a light background, because many scanners struggle with low contrast or inverted colours.
  4. Download a PNG for screens and documents, or an SVG for print, since SVG stays sharp at any size.

Tips for QR codes that scan first time

  • Print it at least 2 cm (about 0.8 in) wide, and bigger if people will scan from a distance.
  • Leave the white border (the "quiet zone") around the code.
  • Shorter links make simpler codes that scan faster.
  • Choose High error correction if you plan to put a logo on top.

FAQ

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. ThereĆ¢€™s no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you make.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. These are static QR codes, so the data is inside the pattern. They work for as long as the link or information inside them is valid.

Can I track scans?

No. Scan tracking needs a "dynamic" QR code that sends people through a redirect server. This tool makes static codes only, which is more private and never stops working.

Is my Wi-Fi password safe?

The code is generated on your device and nothing is uploaded. Remember that anyone who scans the printed code can join your network, so use it for a guest network.
