Best AI App Builder for Non-Coders (2026): 6 Picks

By Botvana Team ·

You no longer need to learn to code to build a working app. Describe what you want in plain English and an AI app builder writes the screens, the database and the logic for you. Finding the best AI app builder depends on what you're making: a public web app, an internal tool for your team, or a quick prototype to show investors.

We compared six popular options for non-coders on price, ease of use and what each is best at. Prices come from each company's own pricing page, checked on November 1, 2026. We describe what each vendor documents rather than claiming long-term hands-on tests, and we tell you where to double-check before paying.

QUICK ANSWER

For most non-coders: Lovable or Bolt to turn a chat prompt into a public web app, Replit if you might grow into code, Glide or Softr for internal business tools built on your data, and Bubble for complex apps you want full visual control over. All six have a free way to start.

1. Lovable: chat your way to a web app

Lovable describes itself as an AI software engineer that lets anyone build websites and web apps by chatting. According to its pricing FAQ, the free plan includes 5 build credits a day (up to 30 a month), and simple changes cost less than a credit: Lovable's own examples put "Make the button gray" at 0.5 credits and adding sign-up and login at 1.2 credits.

Two details non-coders appreciate: Lovable says you own the code and apps you build, and plans aren't priced per seat, so you can invite your whole team into one shared credit pool. Monthly credits expire two months after they're issued, so don't stockpile them.

2. Bolt: prompt-to-app in the browser

Bolt offers a free-forever plan with no card required, and a Pro plan at $25 a month billed monthly (yearly billing saves up to 28%). Teams costs $30 per member per month. Its pitch is speed: type a description and get a working web app or website you can keep refining by chatting.

3. Replit: start with AI, grow into code

Replit's Agent builds apps from a description, but you always have the real code underneath, which makes it a good choice if you might hire a developer later. Core costs $20 a month ($18 billed annually) and includes $20 toward more powerful models; Pro is $100 a month for commercial builds with up to 15 collaborators.

4. Glide: apps for your team

Glide is built for internal tools such as inventory trackers, field-service apps and staff directories, often on top of a spreadsheet or database you already have. The free plan has limited credits; Basic is $25 a month with 100 credits, Plus $50, and Pro $125 for teams.

5. Softr: portals and internal tools

Softr is popular for client portals, member areas and simple business systems. Its pricing page lists Basic at $19 a month and Pro at $99, with app users and workflow runs counted separately. A free plan lets you try it first.

6. Bubble: most control, steeper learning

Bubble is the veteran of visual app building and now adds AI to help generate apps. It gives you the most control over complex logic and data, but it also takes the longest to learn. Check Bubble pricing for current plans.

How to choose the right AI app builder

  • Public app or prototype to show people: Lovable or Bolt.
  • Might hand it to a developer later: Replit, because you keep real, editable code.
  • Internal tool on your existing data: Glide or Softr.
  • Complex marketplace or SaaS idea: Bubble, if you're willing to invest learning time.

Watch out for

  • Credits and usage limits. Most tools now charge by AI credits, and complex changes cost more. Start on a free plan and watch how fast credits go.
  • Security. If your app stores customer data, check authentication and data rules before launch. AI-generated apps can have gaps a developer would spot; our guide to AI-era security for small businesses covers the basics.
  • Lock-in. Ask whether you can export your code or data if you leave.
  • Support. When something breaks, you need help fast. Check whether the plan includes email support, a community forum or only documentation.
  • Hosting costs. Building is only half the bill. Once real visitors arrive, running the app can use credits or need a paid plan, so check what happens as traffic grows.

Step by step: plan your app's look before you build

AI builders produce better results when your prompt includes clear design choices. Spend five minutes on branding first with two free Botvana tools:

  1. Write one sentence describing the app: who it's for and the main job it does.
  2. Open the free Color Palette Generator and generate a palette. Copy the hex codes for your primary, accent and background colours.
  3. Create an app icon with the free Favicon Generator so your app looks finished in browser tabs and on phone home screens.
  4. Build your first prompt: "Build a booking app for a dog groomer in Manchester. Primary colour #7C3AED, accent #22D3EE, clean and mobile-first. Pages: services, booking form, admin list of bookings."
  5. Paste it into your chosen builder, then refine one change at a time. Small, specific requests use fewer credits than "redo everything".

FAQ

What is the best AI app builder for beginners?

Lovable and Bolt are the easiest for turning a plain-English description into a working web app. Glide and Softr are easiest for internal tools built on your own data.

Can I build an app with AI for free?

Yes. All six tools here have a free way to start. Lovable's free plan, for example, includes 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month.

Do I own the app I build with AI?

It depends on the tool. Lovable says you own the code and projects you build. Check each provider's terms, and whether you can export your code or data.

Can AI app builders make mobile apps?

Many build mobile-friendly web apps that work in a phone browser. Publishing to the App Store or Google Play usually needs extra steps, so check each tool's documentation.

Are AI-built apps secure?

They can be, but review authentication, data permissions and privacy settings before launch, especially if the app stores customer data.
