Gemini Student Hub Guide: Immersive Explorations

By Botvana Team ·

Google has quietly turned the Gemini app into a proper study space. The Gemini student hub gathers Gemini's learning tools in one place, and on October 28, 2026 Google added immersive explorations: interactive, visual scenes you can explore layer by layer, from microscopic systems to deep space.

This guide explains what the student hub is, how to open it, what immersive explorations are, which languages are supported, and how to use these tools to actually learn rather than just look busy. All feature details come from Google's own announcements, linked below. We describe the features as Google documents them; availability can vary by account and country, so check your own app.

QUICK ANSWER

The Gemini student hub gathers Gemini's learning tools in one place, where students can start a study notebook, create flashcards and take practice quizzes. On October 28, 2026 Google added immersive explorations: interactive, visual scenes you explore layer by layer. Availability can vary by account and country, so check your own app.

What is the Gemini student hub?

Google describes it as a dedicated hub in the Gemini app "to help get students started with all of Gemini's learning tools". From the hub, students can start a study notebook, create flashcards, take a practice quiz and more. Google says new learning tools will appear there as they are built.

It first launched for personal Google accounts. On October 1, 2026, Google's Workspace Updates blog announced that it is now available to Google Workspace for Education users of all ages, and an October 19 update added Workspace users in the European Economic Area.

How to open the student hub

  1. Go to gemini.google.com/students, or
  2. Open the Gemini app and choose Students from the menu.

There is no setting to switch on for users. If you have a school account and can't see it, Google notes that Gemini access is controlled by your school's admin through the Generative AI settings in the Workspace Admin console. In that case, ask your school IT team.

What are immersive explorations?

Immersive explorations are a library of interactive scenes. Google's examples include tracing trade routes on the Silk Road, looking inside a jet engine and studying the physics of lightning. Each scene opens into a guided experience: you tap a label to go deeper, moving from planet-sized views down to molecules and atoms.

To find them today, open the student hub and click "Try immersive explorations". Google says you will soon be able to open them directly inside a normal chat with Gemini, and that audio narration is coming to walk you through each layer.

Supported languages

Google says the feature is available to all users in English, Indonesian, Hindi, Brazilian Portuguese, French and simplified Chinese. Users in other languages, including Urdu, currently get an English-only experience, with more languages promised. For students in Pakistan, that means the scenes work, but in English.

How it fits with Gemini Notebook

The hub sits alongside Gemini Notebook (the tool formerly called NotebookLM), which works from your own sources. Google has added several study features there this month:

  • Short Video Overviews: 60-second videos that explain a tricky concept.
  • Interactive Learning Overviews: a step-by-step walk through your notes, mixing summaries, slides, quizzes and flashcards, grounded in your coursework.
  • More quiz formats: short-answer, multi-select and fill-in-the-blank.
  • Free textbooks: on October 29, Google said students can add hundreds of textbooks from providers in the US and India, including OpenStax, Open Textbook Library and S Chand Publishing, at no charge, with answers cited back to the book.

A simple study routine using these tools

Pretty visuals are not the same as learning. Research on study methods consistently favours actively recalling information over re-reading. Here is a routine that uses the tools in that spirit:

  1. Explore first (10 minutes). Open an immersive exploration on your topic to build a mental picture. Note three things that surprised you.
  2. Go to your own material. In Gemini Notebook, add your class notes or a free textbook, and ask for an Interactive Learning Overview.
  3. Test yourself. Make a practice quiz with short-answer questions. Answer without looking.
  4. Fix gaps. Ask your notebook for feedback on what you got wrong, then make flashcards just for those points.
  5. Explain it back. Close the app and explain the topic out loud or on paper. If you can't, repeat step 3.

Tips for teachers and parents

Immersive explorations can work well as a class warm-up: project a scene, let students suggest which label to open next, and ask them to predict what they will see before tapping. Parents can use the same approach at home for curious younger learners, sitting with them rather than handing over the device. For school accounts, talk to your IT admin first, because Google ties access to the Workspace Generative AI settings. And because the content is in English for Urdu speakers, pausing to explain key terms in your own language helps a lot.

Use AI honestly at school

These tools are designed to help you understand. They are not a way to produce work you hand in as your own. Check your school's AI policy, cite AI help if your teacher asks you to, and never paste AI text into assignments. Our guide on AI humanizers and Turnitin explains why "undetectable AI" tricks are a bad bet.

Also remember that AI can be wrong. When an answer matters, check it against your textbook or teacher. Gemini Notebook's citations make that easier.
