Barcodes are the quickest way to get text or a number into a computer: a scanner or phone camera reads them in a fraction of a second, without typos. This free barcode generator creates the two formats people need most. Code 128 is a compact, flexible barcode that encodes any standard keyboard text (letters, numbers and symbols). It's widely used for shipping labels, asset tags, inventory, library cards, event tickets and internal stock-keeping (SKU) labels. When your data is all digits, the generator automatically switches to Code 128's denser number mode so the barcode is shorter. EAN-13 is the 13-digit retail barcode printed on products sold in shops in Europe and most of the world (the US UPC-A is a 12-digit subset, so add a leading 0). Type 12 digits and the check digit is calculated for you, or type all 13 and it's verified. Adjust the bar width, height, margins and colours, and choose whether the human-readable text appears underneath. Download as SVG for perfectly crisp printing at any size, or as PNG for documents and labels. Important: to sell products in retail stores you need officially licensed EAN/UPC numbers from GS1. This tool only draws the barcode for a number you already have. Everything is generated in your browser using our own encoder, with no third-party service.

FAQ
Can I sell products with these EAN codes?
Only if the number is yours, licensed from GS1. The tool draws barcodes; it doesn’t issue numbers.
How do I make a UPC-A barcode?
Use EAN-13 with a leading 0 in front of the 12-digit UPC.
Why won’t my barcode scan?
Keep enough contrast and the quiet zone (white margin), don’t print too small, and avoid stretching the image.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Barcodes are drawn in your browser.
